SSPU LAB
VMX Architects, in collaboration with local engineering company XDAD, has won first prize in the international competition to design two new buildings for the Shanghai Second Polytechnic University (SSPU).
The primary goal of the design was to create a highly flexible building capable of accommodating various laboratories. Adaptability over time was a key consideration. To maximize interior flexibility, the floor plan is kept free from staircases, lifts, and other functions, which are placed outside the main structure. The project’s visual identity is shaped by its infrastructure, facilities, and the dynamic activities visible from the exterior.
