Oranje Nassau

The Oranje Nassau project is an extensive renovation of an 110 m2 apartment from 1910 at the Vondel Park in Amsterdam. The starting point of the renovation was to create a functional apartment which is in harmony with the classic style of the house.

At our first meeting with, Juleke and Mark-Jan, the client, expressed they like cooking and entertaining friends, they usually cook together which seems to be rather uncomfortable in the old kitchen. Which is why they agreed very fast in moving the kitchen to the biggest space of the house, the living room.
Next to that we eliminated the corridor, grouped the bedrooms, a bigger hal and bathroom with a very small and intimate living room.

Doorway

Although the entrance hal has 8 doors, the atmosphere of the space is very calm and anonymous. The door detail is reduced to its minimum which makes the door more part of the wall. This way the the bedrooms feel more private.
